KIU Student Project Funding Program

Kutaisi International University (KIU) has opened applications for its Student Project Funding Grant Program, which aims to promote student life and foster the development of the educational environment.

Since 2020, the program has supported the implementation of approximately 20 student projects across various disciplines, focusing on creating an inclusive university environment, enhancing students' academic and professional skills, and facilitating engagement in sporting, creative, cultural, and research initiatives. The total budget allocated to these implemented projects amounts to 120,000 GEL.

The Student Project Funding Program provides financial support for projects across different categories:

Projects Supporting Student Life

This category funds cultural, creative, and sporting activities and events, including student clubs. Within the framework of the program, the university operates a music room and the KIU Capella, which are accessible to all interested students. Funding has been provided for KIU Community, as well as for frisbee and animation clubs. Football and basketball teams have also been supported, and continue to operate beyond the completion of their respective projects. The university has its own musical band.

Student Educational Projects

This category encompasses the implementation of student research projects and professional development courses. Funded projects include the organisation of olympiads, quizzes, and similar activities. During the current academic year, An Electrical Engineering Club functions at KIU, which aims to popularise the field amongst students and deepen their existing knowledge. Completed projects include IQ197, which sought to enhance students' logical thinking skills; the Clevermind League framework, through which intellectual championships were held; and KIU has also funded a Programming Club, a Mathematics Club, and Georgian Rover Challenge KIU - robotics and STEM educational activities for students.

Startup Projects Created by Student Groups

With the aim of developing the startup ecosystem and fostering a culture of teamwork and collaboration amongst students, a new category - support for startup projects - was added to the Student Project Funding Program in 2023. Applications may be submitted by teams comprising KIU students who have a startup idea that contributes to diversifying student life and developing a culture of collaboration amongst students.
