KIU International Student Admission Guideline for Bachelor’s programs

for Georgian Citizens



Kutaisi International University offers internationally competitive, English-Georgian and English-language Undergraduate programs in:


·       Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Computer Science

·       Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Management

·       Bachelor of Science program in Mathematics & Applications: Foundations of Artificial Intelligence, Scientific Computing, and Financial Mathematics

·       Bachelor of Science in Design (Double Diploma with University of Naples Federico II) 

·       Bachelor of Science in Psychology (Joint Program with University of Bamberg)

·       Bachelor of Science in Law

 

 ·       Medical Doctor Program (Double Diploma with University of Naples Federico II) 

The annual tuition fee for Georgian citizens on all undergraduate programs is 2250 GEL.

 


 

Enrollment in the Undergraduate programs without passing the Unified National Examinations is permitted for the following persons:


1.  Citizens of Georgia who have received full general or equivalent education in a foreign country and have studied in a foreign country for the last 2 years of full general education;


2.  Citizens of Georgia who live/have lived, study/have studied and received credits/qualifications in a foreign country at a higher education institution recognized in accordance with the legislation of the country (living in a foreign country implies staying in a foreign country for at least 75 days during one of the semesters).

Registration and interview


 

Please refer to the list of required documents based on the applicant’s category:

 

1.   Mandatory documents for Georgian citizens who have received full general or equivalent education in a foreign country:

·       International Student Application Form;

·       Cover letter (no more than 500 words);

·       Photograph (3x4);

·       Copy of passport;

·       Copy of the full general or equivalent education document and its supplement obtained in a foreign country;

·       Document certifying study in a foreign country during the last 2 years of full general education (for example: a certificate from a general education institution);

·       English language proficiency certificate (minimum B1 level). The applicant's English language skills can be confirmed by the following certificates: TOEFLIELTSVersant by Pearson English CertificateDuolingo English Test (If you have another certificate, please contact Apply@kiu.edu.ge for consultation).



2.  Mandatory documents for foreign Georgian citizens who live/have lived, study/have studied and received credits/qualifications in a foreign country at a higher education institution recognized in accordance with the legislation of the country (living in a foreign country implies staying in a foreign country for at least 75 days during one of the semesters):


·       International Student Application Form;

·       Cover letter (no more than 500 words);

·       Photograph (3x4);

·       Copy of passport;

·       Copy of the document certifying the credits obtained in a higher education institution of a foreign country (academic transcript);

·       A document certifying living in a foreign country during the period of study in a higher education institution of a foreign country (Registration certificate, residence permit or other document confirming the fact of living in a foreign country; living in a foreign country means staying in a foreign country for at least 75 days during one of the semesters).

·       English language proficiency certificate (minimum B1 level). The applicant's English language skills can be confirmed by the following certificates: TOEFLIELTSVersant by Pearson English CertificateDuolingo English Test (If you have another certificate, please contact Apply@kiu.edu.ge for consultation); 


 

Note:


For documents issued in a foreign language (not Georgian) a notarially certified Georgian translation is required, unless the applicant uses the paid recognition service (in this case, the service fee is paid when submitting documents).

The deadline for submitting documents for admission to the Fall Semester of the 2025–2026 academic year is August 15, 2025



Online Interview:

 

All undergraduate applicants wishing to study at Kutaisi International University must undergo an online interview in English.

 

After successful completion of the online interview, Kutaisi International University will issue a consent letter on the possibility of enrolling the applicant on their chosen undergraduate program, granted that the applicant successfully completes the remaining procedures in the admission process.

 

 

II Step


Recognition of Foreign Education


 

After receiving a consent letter from the University, the applicant must apply to the LEPL National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement (hereinafter referred to as the Center) for the recognition of the educational document issued in a foreign country. The application form and detailed information can be found here.

The Center, upon the instructions of the applicant, is obliged to send the application, the attached documents and recognition result to the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia, which makes the decision on granting the right to study in a higher education institution without passing the Unified National Examinations to the applicant.

 


Paid Service for Education Recognition


After receiving written consent from the University on the successful completion of the first step of the admission process, the applicant may request that the university to undertake the Foreign Education Recognition process at the LEPL - National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement on the applicant’s behalf.


In this case, the applicant must cover the service fee of 80 EUR within one week.


Upon the submission of a receipt for payment of the service fee, the University will begin to bring the applicant’s documents in compliance with the regulations in Georgia. This includes notarial translation of the applicant’s documents, payment of the fee for the Foreign Education Recognition service, submission of relevant documentation to the LEPL - National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement as well as cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia to grant a person the right to study at Kutaisi International University without passing the Unified National Examinations.

 

 

 


III Step


National Assessment and Examinations Center Examination


 

Citizens of Georgia who have studied and received credits/qualifications in a foreign higher education institution must successfully pass the General Skills Exam organized by the LEPL National Assessment and Examinations Center to be able to continue their studies in Kutaisi International University without passing the Unified National Examinations (Only applicants who have gained the right to study in a higher education institution in a foreign country from January 1, 2019 are required to pass the above mentioned examination).

IV Step


Enrollment


 

Once the applicant is granted the right to study at Kutaisi International University by the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia without passing the Unified National Examinations, the Rector's decree for enrollment at Kutaisi International University shall be issued.


Before enrolling at Kutaisi International University, the applicant must sign a learning agreement with the University.


The student must pay the tuition fee in accordance with the current regulations at the university and submit a receipt confirming the payment.
