KIU International Student Admission Guideline for Master’s programs
for Georgian Citizens
Kutaisi International University offers internationally competitive, English-language Undergraduate programs in:
• Intellectual Property, Innovations and Entrepreneurship
• Embedded Computing System
• Finance and Information Management
Enrollment in the Master’s programs without passing the Unified Graduate Examinations is permitted for the following persons:
1. Georgian citizens who have obtained a relevant academic degree (Bachelor's level) from a higher education institution abroad (outside of Georgia) and hold official documentation confirming this qualification;
2. Georgian citizens (excluding students participating in joint higher education programs) who, for no less than 75 days in one semester have lived abroad and are currently enrolled or have previously studied/completed a Master’s program and have earned credits or a qualification at a higher education institution abroad (outside of Georgia) that is recognized in accordance with the laws of the respective country.
3. Georgian citizens who were admitted to a higher education institution in Georgia without having taken the Unified National Examinations and have obtained an official document confirming the relevant academic degree (Bachelor’s level).
Registration and interview
Please refer to the list of required documents based on the applicant’s category:
1. Mandatory documents for Georgian citizens who have completed a Bachelor's educational program abroad (outside of Georgia):
· International Student Application Form;
· Cover letter (no more than 500 words);
· Photograph (3x4);
· Copy of passport;
· A copy of the official document confirming the relevant higher education qualification (Bachelor's level) issued by a higher education institution recognized by the respective foreign country;
· English language proficiency certificate (minimum B2 level). The applicant's English language skills can be confirmed by the following certificates: TOEFL, IELTS, Versant by Pearson English Certificate, Duolingo English Test (If you have another certificate, please contact Apply@kiu.edu.ge for consultation).
2. Mandatory documents for Georgian citizens who are currently enrolled in or have completed a Master's educational program abroad (outside of Georgia):
· International Student Application Form;
· Cover letter (no more than 500 words);
· Photograph (3x4);
· Copy of passport;
· A copy of the official document confirming the credits earned in a Master’s program at a foreign higher education institution, or a document certifying the award of a Master’s degree or an equivalent academic qualification issued by a higher education institution recognized in accordance with the legislation of the respective foreign country;
· A document confirming residence in a foreign country during the period of study at a foreign higher education institution (such as a registration certificate, residence permit, or any other official document verifying that a Georgian citizen resided abroad). Residence in a foreign country implies being present in that country for no less than 75 days during a single academic semester.
· English language proficiency certificate (minimum B2 level). The applicant's English language skills can be confirmed by the following certificates: TOEFL, IELTS, Versant by Pearson English Certificate, Duolingo English Test (If you have another certificate, please contact Apply@kiu.edu.ge for consultation).
3. Mandatory documents for Georgian citizens who were admitted to a higher education institution in Georgia without taking the Unified National Examinations and have completed a Bachelor's educational program:
· International Student Application Form;
· Cover letter (no more than 500 words);
· Photograph (3x4);
· Copy of passport;
· Copies of diploma and supplement received as a result of admission to a higher education institution in Georgia without taking the Unified National Examinations and the official act issued by the head of the institution confirming the individual’s admission without taking the Unified National Examinations.
· English language proficiency certificate (minimum B2 level). The applicant's English language skills can be confirmed by the following certificates: TOEFL, IELTS, Versant by Pearson English Certificate, Duolingo English Test (If you have another certificate, please contact Apply@kiu.edu.ge for consultation).
Note:
For documents issued in a foreign language (not Georgian) a notarially certified Georgian translation is required, unless the applicant uses the paid recognition service (in this case, the service fee is paid when submitting documents).

The deadline for submitting documents for admission to the Fall Semester of the 2025–2026 academic year is August 15, 2025
Online Interview:
All undergraduate applicants wishing to study at Kutaisi International University must undergo an online interview in English.
To view the additional prerequisites for admission to a specific Master's program, please refer to the respective program's page.
After successful completion of the online interview, Kutaisi International University will issue a consent letter on the possibility of enrolling the applicant on their chosen undergraduate program, granted that the applicant successfully completes the remaining procedures in the admission process.
Recognition of Foreign Education
After receiving a consent letter from the University, the applicant must apply to the LEPL National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement (hereinafter referred to as the Center) for the recognition of the educational document issued in a foreign country. The application form and detailed information can be found here.
The Center, upon the instructions of the applicant, will send the application, attached documents and recognition result to the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia, which makes the decision on granting the right to study at Kutaisi International University without passing the Unified Graduate Examinations to the applicant and informs the University regarding the decision.
Paid Service for Education Recognition
After receiving written consent from the University on the successful completion of the first step of the admission process, the applicant may request that the university to undertake the Foreign Education Recognition process at the LEPL - National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement on the applicant’s behalf.
In this case, the applicant must cover the service fee of 80 EUR within one week.
Upon the submission of a receipt for payment of the service fee, the University will begin to bring the applicant’s documents in compliance with the regulations in Georgia. This includes notarial translation of the applicant’s documents, payment of the fee for the Foreign Education Recognition service, submission of relevant documentation to the LEPL - National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement as well as cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia to grant a person the right to study at Kutaisi International University without passing the Unified Graduate Examinations.
Enrollment
Once the applicant is granted the right to study at Kutaisi International University by the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia without passing the Unified National Examinations, the Rector's decree for enrollment at Kutaisi International University shall be issued.
Before enrolling at Kutaisi International University, the applicant must sign a learning agreement with the University.
The student must pay the tuition fee in accordance with the current regulations at the university and submit a receipt confirming the payment.
