On June 17-18 of this year, Kutaisi International University hosted the Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, members of the Scientific-Advisory Council of Higher Education and Science under the Education and Science Committee. During the visit, the first working meeting of the Council was held, where the needs and challenges existing in the system in the field of higher education were discussed. The meeting was attended by the Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia Kakhaber Kuchava, members of the Education and Science Committee, Rector of Kutaisi International University Alexander Tevzadze, KIU Chancellor Magda Magradze, Chairman of the Board of “Cartu” Foundation Nikoloz Chkhetiani, Director of the Projects of Foundation Vakhtang Tsagareli, Rectors of the higher educational institutions.
During the visit, the Speaker of the Parliament met with the students of Kutaisi International University. Kakha Kuchava congratulated the first-year students on the end of the academic year and wished them success. The meeting was held in an informal setting; a direct dialogue took place between the Chairman of the Supreme Legislative Body and the students, they exchanged views, the Speaker of the Parliament shared his experience with the young students.
After the meeting with the students, an exhibition of the KIU photo contest - "Georgia – Stories told with the images" was held at Kutaisi International University. Kakha Kuchava viewed the works exhibited at the campus, which won the KIU Photo Contest and got the prize-winning places.
"Today, I visited Kutaisi International University for the first time and I feel great admiration - what I saw exceeded all expectations. I would like to spend my student years again, now at this university. The investment made by the “Cartu” Foundation is truly unprecedented and we would like to express our gratitude for this support. I am sure that all students who study at Kutaisi International University will have great experience and adventure,” - stated Kakha Kuchava, Speaker of the Parliament.
“The meeting of the Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia with the students, in addition, the exhibition of the winning works of the KIU photo competition was held at Kutaisi International University today. Such visits are important because the students had the opportunity to get acquainted directly with the current issues of the Parliament and the Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia. Mr. Kakha Kuchava spoke about his experience, the importance of education, innovation and technology development, and also announced some news that the Parliament will offer to young people. As for the exhibition of the winning photos of the KIU photo competition, it has ended and we will have an award ceremony very soon,” - said University Chancellor Magda Magradze.
