Program Structure

Bachelor Degree Program in Law introduces innovation in the field of higher legal education in Georgia.

The program is based on the bachelor degree program in law of the University of Potsdam (Germany), specifically, it incorporates the modular teaching method, which enables students to engage in an in-depth study of each course within a given module and critically examine the interconnections among them, acquire deeper and more systematic knowledge, and strengthen analytical and critical thinking skills.

The program’s academic disciplines are structured into blocks and modules. The program architecture is based on a step-by-step system of knowledge acquisition and assessment, where each subsequent stage (block) builds upon and deepens the knowledge gained at the previous stage.

The Bachelor Degree Program in Law consists of the following blocks:

1. General Foundations

2. Basic Professional Competencies

3. Integrated Advanced Professional Competencies

4. Professional Practical Skills

5. Elective disciplines of professional Competencies

6. Elective Disciplines of Additional Competencies

Each block consists of modules and each module combines the academic courses that contribute to achieving the objectives of the respective block. Each module concludes with a Module Capstone Practical Course (Module Exam), the purpose of which is to synthesize and apply in practice the integrated knowledge, skills, and competencies acquired within the module.

The program comprises 240 ECTS credits, distributed across compulsory and elective modules.  1 ECTS credit corresponds to 30 hours, which include both contact hours (lectures, seminars, group work) and independent student work (preparation for interim and final assessments, completion of assignments, and preparation of presentations). The courses in the sixth block aim to develop additional competencies based on the student’s individual choice.

To develop foreign language professional communication skills, facilitate the study and use of foreign-language sources in the teaching and learning process, and promote the internationalization of the program, English-language courses will be offered within the curriculum with the involvement of international academic personnel.
