Magda Magradze

Chancellor of KIU

 

 

 

Since 2019, Magda Magradze is the Chancellor of the Kutaisi International University.

Magda also holds the position of Chief Executive Officer of non-governmental organization Millennium Foundation (www.millennium.org.ge) and is independent member of the supervisory board of the third largest Georgian banks – the Liberty Bank (https://www.libertybank.ge/en/).

Since September 2013 to September 2019, Magda Magradze was the Chief Executive Officer of Millennium Challenge Account-Georgia managing implementation of $140 million Georgia program (Compact) of the U.S. Millennium Challenge Corporation in the field of human capital development.

During October 2008-September 2013, Magda Magradze has worked as Caucasus Region Manager of the Academic Fellowship Program of Open Society Foundations Higher Education Support Program covering the three countries of South Caucasus region – Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Georgia.

Prior to that Magda managed and coordinated U.S. government-funded educational, exchange, and cultural programs at the U.S. Embassy Public Affairs Section in Tbilisi, Georgia for over nine years.

During 1995-1998, Magda worked at USAID Accounting Reform Project coordinating accounting (among those ACCA) programs in Georgia, and various EU TACIS and World Bank projects. In 1998, Magda completed internship at a U.S. company Northern Technologies International Corporation assisting CEO and company lawyers implement international projects.

Magda holds an ABD (All But Dissertation, currently completing PhD research) and a master’s degree equivalent in jurisprudence from the Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University and master’s degree in management of foreign economic relations (MBA equivalent) from the Tbilisi State University of Economic Relations.


During various years, Magda studied in Denmark, Germany (Saarbrucken University) and the U.S. Magda is alumna of the U.S. Department of State-funded Future Leaders Exchange Program (1994-1995) and the U.S. Department of Commerce-funded SABIT program (1998).


Magda was awarded with numerous U.S. government awards, among those the U.S. Department of State Foreign Service National of the Year Award for outstanding work in promoting Embassy Tbilisis International Visitor Program and expanding the Embassy’s various cultural events programs, which have led to better relationships with Georgian political figures and educators and positive changes in Georgian anti-terrorism and educational reform legislation.


Magda speaks English, Russian, and German languages in addition to her native language Georgian.
