KIU Youth University hosted another public lecture, which was inaugurated by the Rector of Kutaisi International University (KIU), Professor Giorgi Khubua.
The lecture, titled "Line Equation, Distance Function, Machine Learning, and Student Projects," was presented by Professor Ramaz Bochorishvili, KIU Mathematics School Head.
During the lecture aimed at schoolchildren, Professor Bochorishvili emphasized fundamental mathematical concepts such as line equations and distance functions. These concepts play a key role in machine learning and are widely used in student projects integrated into the KIU educational framework. The professor presented these ideas with practical examples and provided detailed information about KIU’s new bachelor’s program, "Mathematics and Applications: Fundamentals for Artificial Intelligence, Scientific Computing, and Financial Mathematics."
The lecture was attended by approximately 500 students from grades 9-12 from schools in the Imereti region. Participants had the opportunity to gain information on topics of interest and share their perspectives.
It is of importance to highlight that the target audience of the project has expanded. Previously, only students in grades 9-12 from schools in the Imereti region were able to participate in the KIU Youth University, but now students from schools in the Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti region can also attend public lectures. The project will gradually expand further and will eventually be available to students from schools across all regions of Georgia.
"KIU Youth University" is a project of Kutaisi International University, which aims to increase access to non-formal education for young people, foster curiosity and a love for learning, and introduce students to university life from an early age. The project also promotes the development of critical thinking, creativity, social skills, and broadens career opportunities. Lecture courses are delivered by both KIU professors and guest lecturers.
