With the financial support of Kutaisi International University, students from Tbilisi #42 Public School of Physics and Mathematics named after Academician Ilia Vekua, traveled to Astana, Kazakhstan, to participate in the 21st International Zhautykov Olympiad (IZhO 2025). The event, held from January 13 to 18, 2025, focuses on mathematics, physics, and Informatics and is one of the most prestigious annual international competition, attracting exceptional school students from across Europe and Asia.
At IZhO 2025, around 700 school students from 15 countries participated, representing schools known for their strong emphasis on STEM education. This year, the Vekua School team returned home with two significant medals. In the mathematics Olympiad, 12th-grade student Demetre Kokhreidze earned a bronze medal. Additionally, in the Olympiad’s teacher category, Vekua School’s teacher Lela Mamulashvili won the gold medal and was named the absolute winner.
Students of Tbilisi #42 Public School of Physics and Mathematics named after Academician Ilia Vekua, have been successfully participating in the Zhautykov Olympiad since 2012. During this period, they have won one gold, five silver, and fourteen bronze medals.
International Olympiads play a crucial role in promoting the development of Georgian students and enhancing the quality of teaching and learning.
