Kutaisi International University (KIU) Rector, Professor Giorgi Khubua, recently visited Germany on a working trip.
During the visit, Professor Khubua held a working meeting with Prof. Dr. Stefan Minner, Chair of Logistics and Supply Chain Management at the Technical University of Munich (TUM).
The two parties agreed to launch a joint doctoral research program focused on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in operations and global supply chain management.
According to the Rector, the integration of innovative technologies enhances the flexibility and agility of management processes, providing managers with a competitive advantage and improving the quality of service offered to customers.
The three-year program will provide doctoral students with various academic positions and unique research opportunities. Students will have the chance to conduct empirical research on resilient and sustainable supply chain issues at the TUM laboratory while also developing data-driven, learning-based computational approaches for operations, logistics, and supply chain optimization.
The research areas covered within the program will include: aspects of digital transformation in manufacturing and logistics, artificial intelligence (AI) in management, and human-AI interaction in the supply chain.
