Kutaisi International University (KIU) will host the first Cohort of students in a few weeks. This year, teaching at the university will be delivered in three undergraduate programs: Computer Science, Management and Mathematics.
KIU students are able to enjoy the fully furnished modern standard student dormitories, studio-type rooms with autonomous heating and cooling systems, bathrooms, bedrooms, fully equipped kitchens and study areas. The rooms are equipped with modern appliances, furniture, all types of necessary inventory and uninterrupted internet connection.
"Students at KIU will have Georgian and German professors, specialists in the field, who will teach students in a high-tech environment through programs developed in cooperation with the Technical University of Munich.
The lectures for entrants to the management program in the first semester will be delivered by the German professors: Rupert A. Brandmeier, Martin Kupiek, Bettina Marcinkowski, also, Georgian professors - Akaki Kheladze and Murtaz Kvirkvaia.
Prof. Dr. Rupert A. Brandmeier has more than 30 years experience in international businesses, public sector and Academia; his main research interests comprise leadership, innovation management and resilience.
Prof. Rupert Brandmeier is a certified project manager (PMP), CISM, SSCP and SCRUM-Master. Brandmeier was one of the leading professors of management in higher educational institutions in the Middle East and Germany. He contributed research papers for Cyber-Security, Business Intelligence, Market Entry-Studies” - says Professor Natia Zedginidze, Head of KIU Management Program.
Professor Ramaz Bochorishvili, Head of the School of Mathematics and Computer Science of Kutaisi International University, says that students will be offered a lot of interesting and significantly different knowledge at KIU. The basis for this, he said, is the many years of diverse and international experience of KIU professors.
Lectures in Computer Science will be delivered by Professors Helmut Seidl and Wolfgang J. Paul. Georgian professors Ia Mosashvili and Besik Dundua will take part in the educational process with them.
Helmut Seidl is a professor at Technical University of Munich, where he holds the chair for “Languages and Specification Formalisms”. Professor Seidl will give lectures on the "Introduction to Informatics" at KIU. This is exactly the course he is giving at the Technical University of Munich. Just as at the Technical University of Munich, this course has an accompanying laboratory course "Fundamentals of Programming", which will also be supervised by Professor Seidl. "Introduction to Informatics" and "Fundamentals of Programming" together represent the flagship introductory training course in object-oriented programming at Technical University of Munich, and Kutaisi International University offers exactly the same training course to its first-year students.
Professor Seidl has great achievements in science that will also be interesting for our students. He has published numerous papers in computer science in A and A* rated scientific journals and conference papers.
Professor Seidl has experience in introducing administrative and new programs. He was the Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Informatics at the Technical University of Munich, he contributed to the establishment of "Game Engineering" and "Data Engineering" programs, he is well-familiar with the educational process and I am glad that today he is one of the heads of the computer science program at Kutaisi International University.
The computer science program is co-supervised by renowned and successful scientist Wolfgang J. Paul, who will give a computer architecture course at University. Paul defended his doctoral thesis in theoretical computer science in the age of 22. He is the owner of the Leibniz Award and holds the IBM invention achievement award from one of the most famous and big American companies.
Professor Paul was coordinator of many scientific projects. He has successfully supervised 65 PhD students, many of which have successful careers in various universities and leading companies. Paul has written books and textbooks that are taught at various foreign universities, and our students will also begin to study computer architecture with these books. He is an interesting person in many ways and one of the proofs of that is the book about karate written together with the three-time world champion in karate.
Professor Markus Neuhauser will give lectures in the linear algebra course in mathematics bachelor's program together with Professor Anzor Beridze. He has teaching and work experience at leading German universities such as the Technical University of Munich and the Technical University of Aachen. In addition, he taught at universities in Germany and Switzerland, and he was also the head of the mathematics department at the German University in Oman. It is very important for us to have professors who have experience of working in different countries.
Professor Neuhauser's research interests are related to Lehmer's still unresolved hypothesis and themes of J.P. Serre, a winner of Fields Medal. He works in fundamental mathematics and also on potential application of the results obtained.
We have another interesting professor in the field of mathematics, Florian Rupp, who will deliver a calculus course with Professor Giorgi Oniani. Prof. Rup was awarded two training prizes. This is the Felix Klein Prize and the Ernst Otto Fischer Prize.
It is noteworthy that Professor Florian Rupp also has a variety of experiences of teaching in different countries, in particular, at universities in Germany, Austria, South Africa and the UK. It is also important that he is Vice-president of Faculty of Mathematics of the Alumni Association of Technical University of Munich. He has held many interesting events and exhibitions aimed at popularizing mathematics. His research interests comprise dynamic systems and he is the author of numerous scientific papers. His work outside of academic space is interesting when he uses his knowledge and experience for consulting services, such as technology-based online and offline training concept for the Armed Forces, developing a research strategy for a Middle East leading technical university, game theory-based auction design for the new platform, concept design and digital prototype implementation for optimal management of oil stocks, etc.
A well-balanced team, the members of which are distinguished by different and complementary experiences, gathered at Kutaisi International University. As a result, we will offer a lot of interesting things to our students, not only very good knowledge, but we will also teach them to use this knowledge,” - said Ramaz Bochorishvili.
