The Kutaisi International University (KIU) held a graduation ceremony for its 2026 undergraduate and postgraduate students. It marks an important milestone in the University's development as it celebrates the graduation of its first cohort of master's degree graduates, demonstrating its growing contribution to advancing education, research, and innovation in Georgia.
The graduation ceremony was opened by KIU Capella, with welcoming remarks addressed by Kutaisi International University Executive Director/Rector, Mr. Vakhtang Tsagareli. The event was attended by Minister of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia, Mr. Givi Mikanadze; President Emeritus of the Technical University of Munich (TUM) and Honorary President of Kutaisi International University, Prof. Dr. Wolfgang A. Herrmann; and KIU Chancellor, Dr. Levan Kopaliani, alongside the Deans of KIU’s Schools of Mathematics, Computer Science and Management.
This occasion marked KIU’s third undergraduate graduation ceremony, with approximately 270 students graduating from the Schools of Computer Science, Mathematics and Management. All three undergraduate programmes were developed in collaboration with KIU’s strategic partner, the Technical University of Munich (TUM).
The University also celebrated the first graduates of its two master’s programmes: Finance and Information Management (FIM) and Intellectual Property, Innovation and Entrepreneurship. Both programmes are unique in the region and were developed through strong international academic partnerships.
The Finance and Information Management (FIM) master’s programme is modelled on its counterpart at the Technical University of Munich (TUM), while the Intellectual Property, Innovation and Entrepreneurship programme was developed through an international partnership between KIU, the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the National Intellectual Property Center of Georgia (Sakpatenti).
