Kutaisi International University Welcomes First-Year Students

 14/09/2026

The new academic year at Kutaisi International University (KIU) has begun. To mark the occasion, the university held a ceremony for freshmen. The event opened with welcoming remarks by KIU Executive Director/Rector, Mr. Vakhtang Tsagareli, and KIU Chancellor, Dr. Levan Kopaliani. The Deans introduced their respective Schools, provided an overview of the academic programs, and answered students' questions regarding academic and administrative affairs.

The new academic year marks further expansion of KIU’s academic portfolio. Two new English-taught Bachelor's programmes - Physics and Architecture - have been introduced at the University for the first time. The majority of KIU's new and existing programmes are developed in collaboration with the Technical University of Munich (TUM) and other leading European universities. Georgian and international professors from leading universities around the world are involved in teaching the programmes.

As part of the 2026–2027 academic year, the state is now fully funding tuition fees for higher education.

A defining feature of KIU is its ultramodern university campus, in addition to its academic programmes. The University is a regional hub for education and science, offering a wide range of academic programmes across all three cycles of higher education, as well as an outstanding teaching and research infrastructure aligned with European standards and fully equipped student residences.
