Kutaisi International University Hosts International Conference on Mathematics

 07/09/2026

Kutaisi International University (KIU) hosts the international conference “Algebra, Analysis and Applications”, alongside the international summer school “Mathematics for Artificial Intelligence”. The events bring together academics and researchers from leading universities and research institutions around the world, together with Georgian scientists and students. The programme explores recent developments in mathematics, as well as key mathematical questions and approaches relevant to artificial intelligence.

The conference opened with welcoming remarks by KIU Chancellor, Dr. Levan Kopaliani, and Head of the Giorgi Nikoladze Scientific Research Centre at KIU, President of the Georgian Mathematical Union, and Corresponding Member of the Georgian National Academy of Sciences, Professor Dr. Alexander Meskhi. The opening session also featured remarks by KIU Dean of School of Mathematics, Professor Dr. Ramaz Botchorishvili, and Dean of School of Computer Science, Mr. Nika Gagua.

As an affiliate university of the Fields Institute for Research in Mathematical Sciences in Canada, Kutaisi International University hosts Canadian mathematicians for the first time. A number of Georgian and international researchers will present recent advances in algebra, analysis, and their applications at this conference. Particular attention is given to the mathematical challenges related to artificial intelligence. The programme will also feature an exhibition of scientific literature by Springer, one of the world’s leading academic publishers. The books displayed at the exhibition will be donated to the KIU Library.

This year’s conference holds particular significance for KIU students, as it is held alongside the inaugural regional summer school, “Mathematics for Artificial Intelligence”. The summer school will offer a specialised series of lectures for students from Georgia and abroad, delivered by leading researchers in the field. Top-performing students will also be awarded Springer book vouchers to purchase scientific literature.

The international conference, a satellite event of the XVI International Conference of the Georgian Mathematical Union, is being held at KIU for the second time. The conference and summer school are jointly organised by the Giorgi Nikoladze Scientific Research Centre at Kutaisi International University, the Georgian Mathematical Union, KIU’s Schools of Mathematics and Computer Science, and the Fields Institute for Research in Mathematical Sciences (Canada).

The international conference and summer school will conclude at KIU on 10 September.
