A welcome address delivered by Mr. Vakhtang Tsagareli, Executive Director/Rector of Kutaisi International University. The Summer school at KIU is held each year as part of a partnership between the university and the Georgia Innovation and Technology Agency (GITA). KIU Chancellor Dr. Levan Kopaliani attended the opening ceremony along with administrative representatives, project organizers, and participants.
As part of the program, KIU students will complete coursework in start-up creation, management, and strategic development. This initiative serves as a platform for young innovators to refine essential skills in ideation and venture creation, in addition to gaining practical experience working in early-stage start-up environments.
In the upcoming weeks, participants will engage in both theoretical coursework and practical workshops to refine their concepts and develop innovative project models. The programme will conclude in September.
KIU's Summer School for Innovation and Startup Acceleration was launched in 2021 and has already attracted nearly 300 students. Several student-led start-up ideas were developed through the initiative, and most participants applied their training directly to professional settings. A number of participants have gone on to establish their own ventures and obtained early-stage funding.
