TerraGuard, an agri-tech startup founded by students of Kutaisi International University (KIU), secured a GEL 150,000 grant by the Georgia’s Innovation and Technology Agency (GITA).

Out of more than 1,000 startups, TerraGuard was selected through Startupbootcamp Georgia's Market Entry Programme.

Developed by a KIU students, Otar Khunashvili, Dachi Khelashvili, Goga Jincharadze, Andria Beridze, and Petre Kharazashvili, TerraGuard aims to enable the early detection of diseases and risks in vineyards, support winegrowers in making more precise decisions, and improve the efficiency of vineyard management.

The startup integrates drone technology to scan vineyards, alongside weather monitoring and advanced data analytics to collect information on the harvest. TerraGuard’s AI-powered assistant analyses the data, identifies potential risks, and provides preventive recommendations for vineyard management.

TerraGuard’s success once again demonstrates that Kutaisi International University, through the integration of practical and theoretical knowledge, is focused on STEM education and fostering a new generation of entrepreneurial leaders. Accordingly, KIU and its students play an important role in the development of Georgia’s technology startup ecosystem.
