Kutaisi International University Signs Memorandum of Understanding with ProCredit Bank

Kutaisi International University (KIU) hosted an official visit from ProCredit Bank, marking the launch of a partnership focused on sustainability, green campus policy, and the expansion of career and internship opportunities for students.

As part of the visit, an unveiling ceremony was held to mark the opening of electric vehicle charging stations on campus, the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), and a public lecture.

The EV stations were installed on the grounds of Kutaisi International University with the support of ProCredit Bank and will be available free of charge to students and campus visitors. The stations were officially unveiled by the Executive Director/Rector of Kutaisi International University, Mr. Vakhtang Tsagareli, and the General Director of the ProCredit Bank, Mr. Alex Matua. The event was also attended by representatives of both the university and the bank.

After the unveiling ceremony signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) took place. The Document was signed by Executive Director/Rector of Kutaisi International University, Mr. Vakhtang Tsagareli, and the General Director of the ProCredit Bank, Mr. Alex Matua. Under the Memorandum KIU and ProCredit Bank will jointly implement educational, informational, and practical projects aimed at promoting environmental protection, energy efficiency, the use of renewable energy sources, and high standards of social responsibility. It is particularly noteworthy that one of the central commitments of the partnership is the promotion of career development opportunities and the provision of internship programmes for students.

The visit concluded with a public lecture delivered to students of KIU, entitled "Sustainable Development, the Contemporary Banking Sector, and Career Opportunities for Young People." The lecture was led by the General Director of ProCredit Bank, Mr. Alex Matua, and the Head of the Bank's Sustainable Development Department, Mr. Aleksandre Jashiashvili. Students gained insight into green policy, efficient resource management, and contemporary challenges in the field. Both parties emphasised that collaboration between the education and business sectors plays a significant role in fostering a sustainable environment. As part of the visit, the guests also toured the ultramodern KIU campus, which features world-class academic and residential infrastructure, as well as recreational and leisure spaces.
