"I have never seen a new university that has shown such enthusiasm and dynamism as Kutaisi International University has been able to demonstrate. This is the merit of the University Organizational Team, Management, Rector and Chancellor and Program Leaders. I would like to express my gratitude to the people who support us with their experience, and this is especially true of the members of the International Advisory Board. We all know that the greatest effort is required during the first years of founding and operating a new university. The mission of KIU is especially important to become a bearer of international level interdisciplinary approach, a perfect university in scientific fields," - said Wolfgang Herrmann.
According to the Minister of Education of Georgia Mikheil Chkhenkeli, Kutaisi International University is the main mega-project of the Georgian education system.
"I welcome the Honorary President of the University - Professor Wolfgang Herrmann, and the members of the International Advisory Board. Thank you again, and I am confident that together we will achieve our goals. Your participation in the academic life of Kutaisi International University is extremely important. Thank you for being with us today! Kutaisi International University is the main mega-project of the Georgian education system. This year the university started its academic life, which makes us incredibly happy. The scientific-research process at Kutaisi International University is our priority. Our goal is to make it a particularly important hub for education and science in the region. The author of the idea and its concept belongs to Mr. Bidzina Ivanishvili. A university of this level and scale could not have existed in Georgia without his and his family's extremely important charity of one billion euros. This is a great gift for our young people, students, the Georgian academic community and the entire country," - said Mikheil Chkhenkeli.
One cyclotron of Hadron Therapy Center, to be installed in KIU, will be used to treat cancer with ultra-modern methods, which is especially important for the treatment of children with cancer, whereas the second one will be used for scientific-research purposes; such an approach highlights the importance of development of science in the country. The world's leading researchers in the field of oncology and proton therapy are ready to carry out scientific-research activities in Kutaisi together with Georgian scientists. Subsequently, Kutaisi International University and Hadron Therapy Center will become an academic and scientific center of world importance.
