KIU Signs Memorandum of Understanding with Kutaisi State Historical Museum

Kutaisi International University (KIU) has joined International Museum Week. On this occasion, a Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between KIU and LEPL Niko Berdzenishvili Kutaisi State Historical Museum.
 
The Executive Director/Rector of Kutaisi International University Mr. Vakhtang Tsagareli, and Acting Director of the Museum, Ms. Nona Kartsidze signed the document at univerCity — KIU's educational and innovation space. The event was attended by KIU Chancellor, Dr. Levan Kopaliani, Head of the School of Architecture, Urban Planning and Design, Ms. Mariam Botchorishvili, and representatives of the museum and the university.  
 
Under the Memorandum, students of KIU School of Architecture, Urban Planning and Design will have the opportunity to undertake internships at the museum. The agreement also provides for the organisation of joint public lectures, seminars, and academic conferences with the participation of highly qualified specialists. In addition, KIU students will be actively engaged in research and practical activities, including participation in archaeological and ethnological expeditions.
 
The Memorandum further outlines the development of joint educational projects in the fields of historical and cultural heritage, science, and museum studies. These projects will enable young researchers to make use of the Kutaisi State Historical Museum's most significant material and intellectual resources for academic purposes. Student research papers will be published in the museum's dedicated academic collection. 
 
A strong foundation for collaboration between Kutaisi International University and the Museum already exists: several months ago, an exhibition of work by students of the KIU Design programme  was held at the Museum, making a meaningful contribution to the cultural and educational engagement of both students and academic staff.
