UniverCity - Kutaisi International University and Kutaisi City Hall Sign Memorandum of Cooperation

 17/04/2026

A new innovative hub, UniverCity, will be established in the city of Kutaisi based on a memorandum signed between Kutaisi International University (KIU) and Kutaisi City Hall.

The memorandum of cooperation was signed by Mr. Vakhtang Tsagareli, Acting Rector of KIU and Director of Kutaisi University Campus, and Mr. Davit Eremeishvili, Mayor of Kutaisi. The event was attended by representatives of the administration of Kutaisi International University and the local self-government of Kutaisi.

The concept of the new space aims to promote Kutaisi as a leading university city, which is fully aligned with the educational reform initiated by the Government of Georgia. Within this vision, Kutaisi is acquiring the key educational role in Western Georgia, giving the city a unique opportunity to strengthen itself as an important and attractive centre for youth self-realisation and development.

The UniverCity space will be located in the central square of Kutaisi. This unique project brings together four key directions. Alongside the development of digital skills, artificial intelligence, and STEM systems, the space will host cultural, social, and cognitive activities. The environment will also include services tailored to young people’s interests, comfortable leisure areas, and spaces for business meetings. Educational institutions will have the opportunity to plan and implement their own projects, invite guests, and hold public discussions with the participation of pupils and students.

In addition, the hub will showcase KIU’s European-standard academic and research programmes, as well as detailed information about the region’s outstanding university campus.

UniverCity will also play an important role from a tourism perspective, as visitors to the city will be able to learn about Kutaisi as both a historical and modern educational centre. The project will further strengthen KIU’s positioning as an innovative and entrepreneurial hub, fully aligned with the city’s overall development strategy.
