Kutaisi — A University City: A new cognitive-innovative space will be established in the central square of Kutaisi. Its concept and design were developed by Kutaisi International University (KIU) in collaboration with Kutaisi City Hall.
The concept of the space envisages the promotion of Kutaisi as a university city, which is in full alignment with the educational reform of the Government of Georgia. Within the framework of this reform, Kutaisi is designated to fulfil the key higher education role in Western Georgia — providing an additional opportunity for the city to establish itself as an attractive centre for young people and, simultaneously, as a hub for their self-realisation and the discovery of new opportunities.
This unique space will bring together four areas of educational focus: digital skills, artificial intelligence, and STEM systems; cultural, social, and cognitive activities; services tailored to the interests of young people; and spaces for recreation and meetings.
Educational institutions will have the opportunity to plan and implement their own youth projects, invite guests, hold discussions, and conduct panel meetings in which both schoolchildren and university students will participate.
The space will be dedicated to KIU's European standard academic and scientific programmes, as well as to the latest developments at its ultramodern university campus — unique in the region. Foreign visitors to Kutaisi will also have the opportunity to receive comprehensive information about the city's historical as well as contemporary educational role and potential.
The integration of this flagship space of Kutaisi International University with the city of Kutaisi will further strengthen KIU's standing as a leading innovative, technological, and entrepreneurial hub in the region, underscoring its role in the city’s development. The new space is conceptually aligned with Kutaisi's historical legacy and the reinforcement of the city's creative function.
