KIU to Host a Lecture Course by University of Strasbourg Professor Dr. Diogo Costa Cunha

 25/02/2026

Within the joint international Master's programme of Kutaisi International University (KIU), the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), and the National Intellectual Property Centre of Georgia — Sakpatenti — Professor Dr. Diogo Costa Cunha will deliver the lecture course "Commercialisation of Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer" in the forthcoming semester. Professor Costa Cunha is a co-author of the Master's programme, an invited expert at WIPO, and a Professor at the Centre for International Intellectual Property Studies (CEIPI) at the University of Strasbourg.

At a meeting held at Kutaisi International University, Mr. Soso Giorgadze, Chairman of Sakpatenti, representatives of KIU's School of Management, and Professor Dr. Diogo Costa Cunha — in his capacity as co-author of the programme — discussed the prospects for establishing a strong academic school in the field of intellectual property and innovation at KIU.

The one-year, English-language Master's programme "Intellectual Property, Innovations and Entrepreneurship", offered by the School of Management at Kutaisi International University, was launched in the autumn semester of 2025 on the basis of a trilateral Memorandum of Cooperation signed between KIU, the WIPO Academy, and Sakpatenti.

The Master’s programme is a unique educational initiative in the region, with no counterpart. Its objective is to prepare highly qualified specialists in the field of intellectual property, both at national and international levels.

The programme ensures the training of competent professionals in intellectual property management, innovation management, and entrepreneurship — encompassing the study of both national and international legislative frameworks and business management strategies. Notably, graduates of the programme will be awarded a Master of Business Administration degree in Intellectual Property and Innovation Management.

The teaching process is led by highly qualified international faculty selected by the WIPO Academy, together with Georgian academic staff, ensuring the programme aligns with international standards and integrate contemporary research and global best practices.

The joint international Master's programme actively fosters and strengthens international academic and institutional partnerships, while creating new opportunities for the professional development of Georgian youth.
