Kutaisi International University (KIU) hosts Professor Dr. Francesco Palumbo, the Deputy Rector for Education of the University of Naples Federico II.
A working meeting was conducted with the Rector (A) of KIU and Director of the Kutaisi University Campus, Vakhtang Tsagareli. The parties discussed the ongoing progress and further development of Design and Medicine programs.
The meeting was attended by the KIU Chancellor, Dr. Levan Kopaliani; Pro-Rector, Prof. Dr. Paata Turava; Head of the School of Medicine, Irakli Shengelia; and Head of the School of Architecture, Urban Planning, and Design, Mariam Botchorishvili.
Prof. Dr. Palumbo expressed his gratitude to Kutaisi International University’s initiatives and reaffirmed his commitment to expanding future cooperation.
Within the framework of the visit, Prof. Dr. Palumbo met with Design and Medicine Program Students. He addressed the educational partnership with KIU and the opportunities that both universities offer students through joint programs.
Notably, starting from the 2025-2026 academic year, the implementation of the undergraduate program in Design and the single-cycle program in Medicine commenced at KIU for the first time, in collaboration with the University of Naples Federico II. These programs offer students exceptional opportunities for international recognition and career growth. Programs are led by Georgian and foreign professors. These joint Georgian-Italian programs will significantly contribute to the training of highly qualified personnel in the fields of design and medicine in Georgia. Within the scope of the cooperation, both Georgian and Italian students will have the opportunity to participate in exchange programs under the partnership. The joint scientific-research projects are also provided for academic staff.
The University of Naples Federico II, founded in 1224, has more than 90,000 students, represents one of the oldest state University in the world.
