For the first time, the Kutaisi State Historical Museum is hosting an exhibition featuring original works by students of Kutaisi International University (KIU). The exhibition showcases the outcomes of visual research conducted by first-year students from the School of Architecture, Urban Planning, and Design (AUD). These projects are intended to introduce students to the foundational principles and cultural frameworks of design.
The exhibition was officially opened with remarks from Vakhtang Tsagareli, Acting Rector of KIU and Director of the Kutaisi University Campus, and Nona Kartsidze, Acting Director of the Museum. The event was attended by KIU Chancellor, Levan Kopaliani, Head of the School of Architecture, Urban Planning, and Design, Mariam Botchorishvili, as well as Georgian and international faculty members, students, parents, and distinguished guests.
The showcased works explore theoretical frameworks of composition and design, with particular attention given to geometric-intuitive and perceptual principles, focusing on spatial relationships, dynamic movement, and the complex interaction between form and color. Special emphasis is placed on the Georgian alphabet.
KIU’s English-language undergraduate program in Design, which launched in September 2025, was developed in academic collaboration with the University of Naples Federico II. The curriculum is delivered by a joint faculty of Georgian and Italian professors.
