Rectors' Conference Takes Place at Kutaisi International University

A Rectors' Conference was held at Kutaisi International University (KIU), bringing together rectors from accredited state and private higher education institutions across Georgia.

 

During the conference, the Minister of Education, Science and Youth, Givi Mikanadze, addressed the key directions of the fundamental higher education reform concept presented by Georgia's Prime Minister, Irakli Kobakhidze. According to the Minister, the reform aims to enhance the quality of higher education and will ultimately establish an education system in Georgia that meets contemporary standards.

 

The meeting also addressed several significant issues, including preliminary legislative amendments related to the higher education reform and the allocation of rectors' quotas within the working group preparing the draft Law on Education and Science.

 

The conference was conducted in a discussion format, with participants reaching collective decisions on various matters.

 

The Chairman of the Rectors' Conference is Academician Professor Davit Gurgenidze, Rector of the Georgian Technical University. The meeting was also attended by Zviad Gabisonia, Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Youth, and Vakhtang Tsagareli, Acting Rector of Kutaisi International University and Director of the the Kutaisi University Campus.
