The opening ceremony of Kutaisi's first international literary festival was held at KIU

Kutaisi is hosting its first international literary festival - "Kutaisi: Myth and Literature". The festival is being held within the framework of the city's UNESCO City of Literature status. The opening ceremony took place at Kutaisi International University (KIU).

 

The festival brings together scholars, literary critics, translators, writers, poets, and publishing house representatives from Georgia as well as from Germany, Austria, Japan, Spain, and Turkey.

 

The opening ceremony was attended by the Minister of Education, Science and Youth, Givi Mikanadze; the Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Youth, Zviad Gabisonia; the Acting Rector of Kutaisi International University and Director of the Kutaisi University Campus, Vakhtang Tsagareli; the Mayor of Kutaisi, Davit Eremeishvili; Kutaisi's delegate to the Georgian Parliament, Zaza Lominadze; the State Representative in Imereti, Levan Zalkaliani; the Chairman of Kutaisi City Council, Giorgi Tchighvaria; and other representatives of local government. The KIU Capella performed at the ceremony, presenting 'Kutaisi Serenade' (by Ioseb Ketchakmadze).

 

The festival program encompasses literary discussions, book presentations, and cultural events.

 

Throughout the two-day event, Georgian and international literary figures will deliver papers across various thematic sessions at Kutaisi International University and Akaki Tsereteli State University, followed by discussions.

 

As part of the festival, exhibitions will be held at the Niko Berdzenishvili Kutaisi State Historical Museum and the David Kakabadze Kutaisi Fine Arts Gallery.
