A delegation from Kutaisi International University (KIU) visited the Heavy Ion Therapy Center at Yonsei Cancer Hospital to explore the operations of educational and research institutions in South Korea.
Acting Rector of KIU and Project Director of the Kutaisi Hadron Center Vakhtang Tsagareli along with Giorgi Pipia, Head of KIU's International Relations Department, conducted a comprehensive tour of the hadron therapy division. During their visit, they examined state-of-the-art medical equipment and observed clinical application practices. Particular attention was devoted to the center's latest achievements in the field of hadron therapy.
The KIU delegation was hosted by Professor Yang Jaehwan, Deputy General Manager of the Heavy Ion Therapy System Division. The parties discussed prospects for long-term collaboration, encompassing both KIU's School of Medicine and the Kutaisi Hadron Center, which is currently in the planning phase at Kutaisi International University. Joint educational and research projects are being planned, utilizing innovative approaches in medical physics, radio-oncology, and cancer treatment methodologies.
The meetings were attended by Mikheil Tigishvili, Envoy Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the Republic of Korea.
Yonsei Cancer Center was established in 1969. The institution integrates high clinical standards with advanced scientific research in oncology, precision medicine, and radiotherapy.
