A delegation from Kutaisi International University (KIU) is on a working visit to the Republic of Korea. Vakhtang Tsagareli, Acting Rector of KIU and Director of the Kutaisi University Campus, along with Giorgi Pipia, Head of KIU’s International Relations Department, visited the Incheon Free Economic Zone (IFEZ), one of Asia's most advanced economic and innovation hubs. The visit aimed to facilitate the exchange of technological, innovative, and industrial expertise, while also expanding international educational and research collaboration.

The Georgian delegation met with Professor Lee Sang Ho, Assistant Director of the Smart IT Operations Group within IFEZ's Innovation and City Growth Strategy Department. He introduced the visitors to IFEZ's development model, which encompasses the economic zone's cutting-edge digital infrastructure, urban design, and smart governance systems. The Korean side was also represented by Professor Sun Dong Yu from Incheon University's Research and Enterprise Foundation, an expert in educational-industrial cooperation. The meeting was attended by Tarash Papaskua, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the Republic of Korea, and Mikheil Tigishvili, Envoy Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary.

IFEZ representatives expressed their readiness to collaborate with Kutaisi International University (KIU) and Kutaisi University Campus (KUCA) on joint initiatives in education, research, and innovation infrastructure development, which would further strengthen KIU's position as a leading innovation and entrepreneurship hub in the region. As noted during the meeting, the Government of the Republic of Korea supports the implementation of international projects focused on the development of educational-industrial hubs.

One of the world's largest free economic zones, South Korea's Incheon Free Economic Zone (IFEZ) spans 13,000 hectares. Incheon hosts leading multinational corporations operating across various sectors, including biotechnology, information technology, industrial manufacturing, and more.
