A delegation from Kutaisi International University (KIU) conducted several significant meetings in Japan to expand international academic collaboration.
Professor Paata Turava, Acting Rector of KIU, Vakhtang Tsagareli, Director of the Kutaisi University Campus and the Kutaisi Hadron Center, and Giorgi Pipia, Head of KIU's International Relations Department, visited the Chiba Institute of Technology (CIT) in Japan. The KIU delegation met with CIT President Dr. Joichi (Joey) Ito, Professor Kenichi Seki, Chairman of the International Relations Committee, and Osamu Setokuma, Chairman of the Board of Trustees.
The Chiba Institute of Technology is one of Japan's most prestigious and successful private technical higher education institutions. CIT is distinguished by its advanced engineering, innovations in robotics, semiconductor research, and aerospace studies. Notably, this institute employs Japan's first official AI lecturer, utilizing a teaching model based on ChatGPT and Blockchain/Verifiable Credentials.
It is significant that the meeting was attended by Teimuraz Lezhava, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to Japan, who expressed his readiness to assist KIU and KUCA (Kutaisi University Campus) in implementing joint initiatives with CIT.
The collaboration encompasses several key areas: joint academic programs at undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels; shared research laboratories in technology and innovation; joint certificates developed on the basis of innovative educational modules; and student exchange programs in Tokyo and Chiba. The partnership with CIT will provide KIU students and researchers with access to Japan's highest technological education standards and innovative pedagogical methods. The first specific projects of the KIU-CIT partnership are to be planned in the near future.
As part of the KIU delegation's successful visit to Japan, a trilateral memorandum of understanding was also signed with Tokai University (Japan). KIU management visited Tokai University's School of Medicine, where they became acquainted with the operations of the radiation oncology and outpatient chemotherapy centres.
