Kutaisi International University offers a different funding model to students

Kutaisi International University (KIU) admitted the first cohort  of students in 2020 to three undergraduate English language programs (Management, Mathematics and Computer Science).  244 young people managed to overcome the high bar set by the University in the entrance examinations.  KIU is one of the largest universities in the South Caucasus, offering unique campus, infrastructure and curriculum to Georgian and foreign students. Students have the opportunity to live and study in a well-equipped university campus, receive a quality higher education and engage in local and international projects with Georgian and foreign professors. KIU is a state university funded by International Charity Foundation “Cartu”.

To provide access to higher education, the University offers a variety of funding and scholarships to students.  The KIU has been running a Student Grants Fund for a year now, under which 240 young people have obtained funding this academic year. The fund has allocated up to GEL 900,000 for student funding this year.

In 2020-2021 academic years, tuition fees have been funded by the Foundation for 208 students. 126 students benefit from the Grant Program for living on campus. 62 students were able to obtain KIU scholarship. In addition, 15 students received various scholarships/awards from the University Rector Fund, and 20 students received a university card (monthly amount).

KIU students can obtain grants Under the Student Grants in the following categories:

Students studying in schools in the occupied territory of Georgia;

Students with deceased parent/parents;

Students, who are the children of those killed and missing in the fight for the territorial integrity of Georgia;

Students with disabilities;

Students, who are members of a large family (with four or more children);

Students, who are under state care;

Students, who are members of socially vulnerable family (families with a rating score of less than 70,000).

Students, who enter KIU, will be able to obtain funding upon submission of an application and relevant documentation. The funding of the best candidates will be determined based on the competition within the budget allocated for the respective category, taking into account the scores obtained at the Unified National Examinations.
