Kutaisi International University (KIU) Master’s students are currently on a study visit to Shanghai’s Global Center of Technology. Finance and Information Management (FIM) Master’s program students, Lana Tchanturidze, Erekle Beridze, Lizi Areshidze, and Teimuraz Pkhakadze are participating in the School on Sustainable AI international summer school held in Shanghai, China. As part of the program, they are visiting industrial zones and high-tech companies in Shanghai, gaining firsthand insights into the practical applications of AI systems across different sectors. At this global hub of modern technologies, KIU students are building international professional networks with representatives of leading technology companies and universities, while learning about current industry trends.

The study visit to China is supported by KIU’s invited professor, Louis Seco (University of Toronto), who is currently in Shanghai and is one of the keynote speakers of the summer school.

“The summer school is an amazing opportunity. Students not only learn the technical basics of AI but also see how it can solve real-life challenges. KIU students are very curious and open to new academic experiences. They have strong potential to create and develop new technologies in the future,” said Louis Seco, Invited Professor at Kutaisi International University and Professor at the University of Toronto.

The program aims to introduce young researchers to the key aspects of AI development and its practical implementation in everyday life. Courses are delivered by professors from leading global universities and include theoretical lectures, practical sessions, site visits, workshops, and conferences.

Lana Tchanturidze, one of the KIU students currently in China, shared her impressions and spoke about her experiences at the summer school on AI:

“At the summer school dedicated to sustainable AI, we are learning about real-life AI solutions, engaging in research projects, and working in robotics labs. At the moment, we are particularly interested in a project on "Smart Cities". It is especially valuable to interact with leading researchers in the field, who share practical examples and important technological solutions. We are grateful to KIU’s invited professor, Louis Seco, who supported our study visit to China and gave us this unique chance to engage in global technological processes,” said Lana Tchanturidze.

During their visit to China, KIU students will also attend the World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC), which will be held in Shanghai on July 26-28, hosted by major IT companies. The conference connects university networks, technology startups, and international research centers.
