Kutaisi International University hosted an evening of international choral music featuring the Yale University International Choir (USA). The audience at KIU had the opportunity to enjoy a special performance by the Yale choir. Folk songs from Georgia and various other countries were performed on stage by American professors and students.
The evening was opened by the Kutaisi International University Student Capella (KIU Capella). The Akaki Tsereteli State University Folklore Ensemble “Adila” and the Kutaisi State Academic Ensemble of Song and Dance also participated in the concert.
Professor Paata Turava, Acting Rector of Kutaisi International University; Associate Professor Ekaterine Gachechiladze, Deputy Rector of Akaki Tsereteli State University; and John Graham, musicologist and organizer of the Yale University choir's tour to Georgia, delivered welcoming remarks to the audience. The event, held to a full house, was attended by representatives of the education and culture sectors, professors, students, and invited guests.
In the near future, KIU will begin active collaboration with the Georgian State Academic Ensemble "Rustavi" and the Anzor Erkomaishvili Georgian Folk Song Ensemble "Martve." As part of this collaboration, an Anzor Erkomaishvili Folk Song Studio will be established at KIU, providing students with an excellent opportunity to learn about and deepen their understanding of Georgian folklore.
The choral evening at KIU was organized by Kutaisi International University, with the active involvement of Kutaisi City Hall, Akaki Tsereteli State University, and the “Rustavi” Ensemble.
