The Rector of Kutaisi International University (KIU), Professor Giorgi Khubua, is currently on a working visit to Germany.
As part of his visit, Professor Giorgi Khubua held a meeting with Professor Dr. Sabine Vogt, the Vice President for International Affairs and Diversity at the University of Bamberg, and the Chair of General Psychology and Methodology, Prof. Dr. Claus-Christian Carbon.
At the meeting, the parties agreed to launch a joint doctoral program in "Innovative Sciences", through which students will have a unique opportunity to earn two diplomas. This means the degree will be jointly awarded by KIU and Otto-Friedrich University of Bamberg. The diploma will be recognized within the European Higher Education Area, which will, in turn, enhance the competitiveness of graduates in the international job market.
The program will integrate innovative approaches to education and aims to train researchers capable of addressing contemporary challenges through cutting-edge scientific research. By fostering international collaboration and knowledge sharing, doctoral students will contribute to the advancement of both Georgian and global educational and scientific fields.
Admission to the new doctoral program will begin in 2025, offering students a unique opportunity to conduct research in innovation and technology, aligned with international standards.
At the meeting, Giorgi Khubua expressed his gratitude to the representatives of Otto-Friedrich University of Bamberg for their continued support of the Georgian education system. He also highlighted that, in recent years, several important and large-scale projects have been successfully implemented with the support of the German government.
On their part, the representatives of the German side thanked the KIU Rector for the productive cooperation and expressed their commitment to further strengthening the partnership in the future.
