KIU & United Airports of Georgia: Competition for Computer Science Students

Kutaisi International University (KIU), in collaboration with United Airports of Georgia, has announced a competition for students of the KIU School of Computer Science.

The competition aims to foster the professional development and employability of students, enhance practical skills within the learning process, and encourage greater student involvement in introducing innovative technologies to the aviation sector.

Participation in the competition will provide students with the opportunity to work on a project that offers valuable practical experience and networking opportunities, while also contributing significantly to the development of Georgia's aviation services. The project focuses on designing and implementing a bus ticket reservation and sales system.


Competition Terms:

The competition is open to computer science students from Kutaisi International University, who may participate as part of a team.

· Each team must consist of 2 to 4 students, with at least one member having experience as a UI/UX designer.


Desired Skills and Experience:

· Back-end: Laravel, PHP

· Front-end: Next.js, React Native

· Database: MySQL

· API: RESTful

· UI/UX Designer


Note: When selecting teams, preference will be given to candidates with experience in the above-mentioned programming languages. However, students who may not have direct experience with these languages, but have experience in similar ones and are eager to learn, are encouraged to apply. Project mentors will be available to share their expertise and offer practical guidance throughout the competition.

Participants will be able to work on the project from any location, within time intervals agreed upon in advance with the mentors.

Throughout the project, selected teams will receive step-by-step guidance from mentor developers, gaining valuable supervision and learning best practices in web development.

Students who successfully participate in the project, have completed at least six semesters, meet the requirements of the internship program, and need internship credits for their educational program, will be awarded ECTS credits.

Additionally, the top-performing participants will be offered a paid internship at the United Airports of Georgia.


Project Duration: 45 days.
