Kutaisi International University hosted an event to introduce the Youth University and to honor excellent school students with awards. The ceremony was opened by KIU Rector, Professor Giorgi Khubua.
Minister of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia, Aleksandre Tsuladze, Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure, Irakli Karseladze, Rector of KIU, Professor Giorgi Khubua, and Kutaisi Majority Deputy, Zaza Lominadze, addressed the audience, congratulated the students on their achievements and presented them with prizes - computers.
Giorgi Khubua introduced the new initiative - the concept of a Youth University - to the audience and emphasized the importance of non-formal education.
The Youth University will offer weekend lectures to students in grades 9 through 12 from public and private general educational institutions in the Imereti region.
Lecture courses on various cognitive and scientific topics will be delivered by both KIU professors and guest lecturers. This initiative aims to raise young people's awareness of higher education alongside their formal studies. The experience will assist students in the decision-making process for choosing their future professions.
The event was also attended by Gela Geladze, Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia; Irakli Kuprava, Director of the Educational and Scientific Infrastructure Development Agency; and Levan Kiknavelidze, Deputy State Commissioner of the Imereti region.
