The first graduation ceremony of Kutaisi International University’s (KIU’s) graduates

The first graduation ceremony of the 2024 graduates of Kutaisi International University (KIU) was held, which was opened by the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze.

Irakli Kobakhidze addressed the audience with a welcome speech, congratulated the graduates on completing their studies and wished them success.

Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia Shalva Papuashvili also addressed the audience. Giorgi Amilakhvari, Minister of Education, Science and Youth; Rector of Kutaisi International University, Professor Giorgi Khubua; Emeritus President of Technical University of Munich (TUM), Honorary President of Kutaisi International University, Professor Wolfgang A. Herman; Vice President of Future Research and Technology Strategy of the German Transnational Engineering and Technology Company Bosch, Dr. Andrei Heinke; Secretary General of the League of European Research Universities (LERU), Professor Kurt Deketelare and University graduate Anano Shaverdashvili.

During the graduation event, Kutaisi International University (KIU) Rector, Professor Giorgi Khubua, alongside Emeritus President of TUM and Honorary President of KIU, Professor Wolfgang A. Herrmann, presented certificates to all 2024 graduates. The graduates also had the opportunity to take photos in designated photo zones. Following the graduation ceremony, a formal welcome ceremony took place.

The event also included representatives from the executive, legislative, and local governments, as well as Georgian and international university professors, students and their families, rectors of various higher education institutions, and other distinguished guests.

Before the event began, guests had the opportunity to visit the new academic building, constructed in 2024 to European standards, located on the Kutaisi International University (KIU) campus. This six-story, 27,000 sq.m. facility features advanced technologies and includes lecture halls, study spaces, laboratories, administrative offices, and reading areas.
