KIU Rector and Head of Administration met the first graduates

 27/08/2024

Professor Giorgi Khubua, the Rector of Kutaisi International University, and Tea Imedadze, the Head of Administration, met with the first KIU graduates and congratulated them on their graduation. At the meeting, the graduates discussed their education, experiences, competencies, and the facilities they received at KIU, reflected on their years spent in the university campus, and shared their future expectations.

A notable fact about KIU graduates is that 80% of graduates are employed or self-employed and have their own startup. Additionally, 40% pursue further education in KIU's interdisciplinary master's program, "Finance and Information Management" (FIM), while some have received funding for studies at leading universities globally. Throughout their time at KIU, most students accessed various funding opportunities and engaged in research and grant programs. They achieved success in competitions and hackathons, receiving offers, invitations, certificates, and prizes. Students visited the Technical University of Munich through a program sponsored by DAAD and participated in an exchange program. As part of the Erasmus+ exchange programs, they toured universities such as the Polytechnic University of Valencia, the University of Saarland, the University of Paris-Saclay, and the University of Aveiro. Additionally, students gained internship experience at research centers, including FORSCHUNGSZENTRUM JÜLICH GMBH and GSI Helmholtzzentrum für Schwerionenforschung GmbH.

Currently, KIU offers bachelor's programs in computer science, mathematics, and management, as well as a master's program in "Finance and Information Management" (FIM) and a doctoral school. In the near future, KIU plans to introduce new academic programs in natural sciences, including physics, chemistry, biology, engineering (civil, electrical, energy), education, arts and humanities, and medicine.

Kutaisi International University (KIU) is the largest charitable mega-project and the only international state higher education institution established in the history of independent Georgia. The vision for the university comes from Mr. Bidzina Ivanishvili and his family, with the international charity fund "Cartu" investing one billion euros in its development.
