Kutaisi International University (KIU) will admit its first students next week. Who are the first KIU students and who will have the unique opportunity to study and live on the region’s first university campus?

1112 students registered for the undergraduate English Program of University (Management, Mathematics, and Computer Science), 246 students enrolled.

Criteria for admitting students to the KIU is one of the most complex amongst the higher education institutions in Georgia today and meets the requirements of the Munich Technical University program. According to STEM direction programs, KIU is named among the three universities with the highest barrier in Georgia, and TUM representatives and the KIU Supervisory Board gave a positive assessment to the new students' scores and results.

According to the rating, the Computer Science stands as most popular KIU program, with the largest number of students enrolled this year, with Management and Mathematics holding second and third place, respectively. 35% of the students enrolled in Mathematics program are girls, which is important, as one of the top priorities of the university is to increase the involvement of women in the field of exact and natural sciences.

Moreover, 90% of students enrolled in the university had KIU as their first choice during the Unified National Examinations, and 78% of students were able to obtain state funding.

There are successful students among the KIU students, who, instead of traveling to Germany and studying at the Technical University of Munich, chose Kutaisi International University. The distinguished and high-scoring young people are in first-hundred of the rating: from Khulo, Tsageri, Chiatura, Tbilisi, Kutaisi, Rustavi, Sachkhere and other regions. Kutaisi International University will also have students from several other countries, including the United States.

One of the highest scoring students, living near demarcation line, is a graduate of the Tsalenjikha Muzhava Community Public School, who, in addition to a state education grant, also obtained a KIU grant (internal funding). Students of Kutaisi International University also became the winners of various international and national competitions and Olympiads; among them are fifteen finalists of the Mathematical and Algorithmic Competition (M Vector) and two successful inventors of the Millennium Innovation Competition.
