On July 29 in Kutaisi International University an award ceremony for winners of M Vector competition of mathematical and algorithmic thinking was held.
Rector of Kutaisi International University Alexandre Tevzadze, Chancellor of KIU Magda Magradze and Dean of the Mathematics School Ramaz Bochorishvili awarded the winners of the contest.
About 700 students from all over Georgia participated in this year’s competition. Forty-six participants made it to the final stage. Six of them were the project winners.
“For three years now, the M Vector competition has been held in cooperation with Kutaisi International University and EPRA organization. And this year many a talented young person participated in the competition. The winners will receive a gift certificates and other symbolic gifts. All M Vector finalists have the opportunity to use the University’s scholarship for tuition and living expenses if they are accepted to KIU,” said KIU Chancellor Ms. Magda Magradze.
According to Rector Alexandre Tevzadze: “Contest participants are those excellent young people who during a semester participated in the M-Vector Math Olympiad at the general education level and succeeded. We offer contestants university funding if they enter the University, which is another incentive for students to take part in said contest and continue their studies at KIU.”
During their visit to KIU, the M Vector finalists met with university administrators and students and participated in an informational tour of the campus.
KIU has been a partner of the competition of mathematical and algorithmic thinking since 2020. Today, many finalists and winners of past years' competition continue their studies at the University.
About the competition: M Vector is a qualitatively new, contemporary challenge and trend-oriented mathematical and algorithmic thinking competition geared toward graduate students. M Vector invites participants not only to uncover mathematical and algorithmic thinking and deepen their knowledge, but also, using that knowledge, to find interesting ways to solve specific mathematical problems. M Vector is designed for those twelfth-graders and students who are interested in and love mathematics, although the project does not impose strict restrictions - even eleventh-graders can participate. The competition is organized by the Educational Policy and Research Association (EPRA).
The competition is funded by International Charity Foundation Cartu and Kutaisi International University and supported by the Ministry of Education, Science and Sports of Georgia.
