 18/07/2022

An exhibition of student business projects was held at Kutaisi International University on July 14 in the framework of the project “Information Technologies for Industrial Development”.

The event was attended by Rector of the University Alexandre Tevzadze, Chancellor Magda Magradze, Dean of the School of Management Natia Zedginidze, Dean of the School of Mathematics and Computer Science Ramaz Bochorishvili, companies and students involved in the project.

The exhibition featured a presentation of business projects created by the students, while invited representatives of micro, small and medium businesses had the opportunity to see  and select on the spot the following business products created at the KIU study hub: online marketing platform, online hotel platform, online tourism platform, online sales platform, online services sales platform.

“Today, our students have offered up to 10 innovative products to private sector representatives in the KIU exhibition space. The projects are tailored to their needs and will help small and medium-sized businesses solve various technological problems. In turn, the project is an incentive for the business sector and at the same time an even greater motivation for the students to offer the market services adapted to the challenges and in demand. The project is implemented as part of the #KIUInnovate platform, which aims to create a system of innovation development at KIU that facilitates the sharing of innovation, knowledge and technology, promotes joint university-industry projects and public-private partnerships,” KIU Chancellor Magda Magradze said at the meeting.

Davit Gelutashvili, founder of Frutera company, said that Kutaisi International University has given small businesses a great opportunity to establish themselves in the market and present themselves worthily to customers. “Projects like this are very important for startups, as they struggle to find financial resources and create a product that is acceptable to customers. This is a great support and promotion for companies like us.”

At this stage, agreements have already been signed with companies that will receive innovative products from KIU students. Kutaisi International University, through the project, provides funding for projects created by students, which is a good way to save financial resources for the private sector. In addition to the 6 projects funded by KIU, companies, if interested, can negotiate with product developers and purchase the project or service presented.

About the project: Kutaisi International University has been implementing the “Information Technologies for Industrial Development” project financed by the Program of Economic Security of the United States Agency for International Development for more than half a year, which aims at promoting economic competitiveness of enterprises operating in various fields by equipping them with knowledge and skills in the field of information and communication technologies. Also to offer enterprises innovative technological solutions and approaches adapted directly to their needs.

The project is implemented within #KIUInnovate, the innovation platform of Kutaisi International University.
