Kutaisi International University (KIU) hosted students from the Chiatura multifunctional center who successfully completed their joint Mathematics and Computer Science course.
During the event 20 school graduates participating in the project received certificates. A tour of the campus was also organized for them. The young people got acquainted with the KIU campus..
Cooperation between Kutaisi International University and Chiatura multifunctional center started in 2021. Its aim is to expand access to higher education for students in the region, promote professions that are in demand on the market and promote youth employment.
In the framework of this cooperation, Kutaisi International University and the Chiatura Multifunctional Center implemented a joint training program in mathematics and computer science for a period of eight months. The training process was supervised by professors Giorgi Oniani and Ia Mosashvili.
According to Magda Magradze, Chancellor of the Kutaisi International University, KIU and the Chiatura multifunctional center offered a special preparatory course in information technology and mathematics to applicants and students of the region, so that young people can properly prepare for university admission.
“This is a very important new initiative and cooperation that started this year between Kutaisi International University and Chiatura multifunctional center. The purpose of the project is to give students residing in the region the opportunity to prepare for university. By this we try to expand access to education for young people living in the region”, said Magda Magradze, Chancellor of the Kutaisi International University.
The Administrative Director of Georgian Manganese company, Teimuraz Khonelia, congratulated the young people on completing the course and noted that the company will continue to support the project.
“Today, together with our partners, we have awarded the graduates of the program. About a year ago we created a unique project - an educational platform in Chiatura, which allows local youth to have access to quality education so they can have successful future and career. I congratulate the graduates. Our company will continue to support/invest in the project through our social and corporate policy” - said Teimuraz Khonelia, Administrative Director of Georgian Manganese.
Graduate students who successfully pass the selection competition can join the Mathematics and Information Technology program. The program is funded by Georgian Manganese company.
