Winners of π-Day Math Contest 2022 Awarded

Kutaisi International University hosted an awarding ceremony for winners of KIU π-Day Math Contest 2022, dedicated to the International Day of Mathematics. The event was opened by KIU Rector Alexandre Tevzadze and Chancellor Magda Magradze. The Dean of the School of Mathematics and Computer Science, Ramaz Bochorishvili, addressed the guests. Katrin Albrecht, Project Manager of TUM International GmbH was present at the ceremony.

According to the scores received in the final competition of KIU π-DAY MATH CONTEST 2022, 5 winning students were identified:

Davit Togoev – a eleventh-grader, LEPL Vladimir Komarov Tbilisi Physics and Mathematics Public School N199;

Luka Dumbadze – a twelfth-grader, LEPL Vladimir Komarov Tbilisi Physics and Mathematics Public School N199;

Elene Enukidze – a  tenth-grader, LEPL Vladimir Komarov Tbilisi Physics and Mathematics Public School N199;

Dima Chubinidze – a  twelfth-grader, Private School “Mzekabani 2007”;

Luka Sanaya – a twelfth-grader,   LEPL Vladimir Komarov Tbilisi Physics and Mathematics Public School N199.

The students were awarded diplomas and gifts established by the University. The winners will receive 100% tuition fee and 50% accommodation fee at Kutaisi International University campus as well as KIU scholarship. All students who participated in the final received a diploma/certificate confirming their participation in the competition.

The award ceremony was followed by an exhibition of projects created/executed by students of KIU’s computer science and mathematics programs as part of the KIU Visual Math Fest 2021-2022. The following projects were presented:

A total of 200 high school seniors  registered for the KIU π-DAY MATH CONTEST 2022. 39 young people made it to the final round and 19 of them came to campus to take part in the final competition. The competition problems  were compiled/adapted by KIU students and selected based on the student competition. The schoolers’ works was also corrected  by the students.

This competition has been held for 2 years on the initiative and organization of KIU School of

Mathematics and is attended by advanced  and talented graduate. The competition is particularly prestigious and popular for students from schools with strong STEM study.

The International Day of Mathematics is celebrated every year on March 14 by the decision of UNESCO on November 26, 2019.  KIU π-DAY is registered on the International Mathematical Union interactive project map.
