The winners of the KIU photo contest have been revealed

The winners of the KIU photo contest are known; we introduce 9 winners in different nominations:

- Data Patatishvili - category of professionals, l place;

- Juba Karmazanashvili - one-shot category, l place;

- Mariam Giunashvili - amateur category, l place;

- Saba Gorgodze - category of professionals, ll place;

- Sandro Siamashvili – one-shot category, ll place;

- George Dundua - amateur category, ll place;

- Tamuna Chkareuli - category of professionals, lll place;

- Mano Svanidze - one-shot category, lll place;

- Nata Kantaria - amateur category, lll place.

We present the prizes according to different categories:

Prizes for the winners in the category of professional photographers:

I place - 10 000 GEL;

II place - 7 000 GEL;

III place - 4 000 GEL.

Prizes for the winners in the category of amateur photographers:

I place - 7 000 GEL;

II place - 5 000 GEL;

III place - 3 000 GEL.

Prizes for the winners in one-shot category:

I place - 3 000 GEL;

II place - 2 000 GEL;

III place - 1 000 GEL.

The competition started in November and ended on February 1st. In total 900 applications were submitted under the project.

The photo contest - "KIU PHOTO CONTEST" was launched at the initiative of Kutaisi International University and funded by the International Charity Foundation “Cartu”. The project was organized by the NNLE "Culture and Contacts". The competition aims to develop photography as a field of contemporary art in Georgia and to promote the professional growth of young photographers by revealing, supporting and strengthening them.

The theme of this year's competition was "Georgia – Stories told with the images ". Participants were free in the interpretation of the topic, the creative approach and the aesthetics of the work.


The competition jury consisted of internationally recognized professionals in the field of photography, including:

- Thomas Dvorak - Photographer, President of MAGNUM PHOTOS Photo Agency;

- MaryAnne Golon - Head of Photography Division and Editor-in-Chief of the Washington Post;

- Alessia Glaviano – Senior Photo of Vogue Italia;

- Azu Nwagbogu - Founder and Director of African Artists' Foundation (AAF) and the LagosPhoto Festival;

- Natela Grigalashvili - Independent photo documentalist and photo journalist.

Amateur and professional photographers aged from 18 to 30 (citizens of Georgia as well as people living in Abkhazia and Samachablo) could take part in the photo competition.
