Kutaisi International University Chancellor Tea Imedadze, along with the winning students of the 2024 KIU-Georgian Technology Agency (GITA) Joint Summer School of Innovation and Startup Acceleration, participated in Web Summit 2024, one of the world’s most prestigious technology events.
Held in Lisbon, Portugal, Web Summit is Europe’s largest technology conference, attracting over 70,000 attendees and more than 1,000 speakers from 160 countries. This year’s conference focused on key topics such as artificial intelligence, social media regulation, and the future of technology. Representatives from companies like Apple, Microsoft, and Meta also took part in the summit.
As part of the summit, the KIU delegation had the opportunity to forge international business connections and gain insights into the latest industry trends. KIU students attended various masterclasses and workshops, receiving professional guidance and learning from successful foreign startups. They also explored best practices in the global startup ecosystem and gained valuable knowledge on current trends in innovation and startup development.
Tea Imedadze held several productive meetings aimed at attracting international partners and fostering future collaborations. During these discussions, the Chancellor shared information about Kutaisi International University (KIU) and explored opportunities for joint projects in the fields of innovation, technology, and research.
During the visit, a meeting was held with Eduardo Baptista Correia, the Executive Director of the Lisbon Science & Technology Park (Taguspark), where both parties expressed their interest in future collaboration. At Mr. Correia’s invitation, the KIU delegation toured Taguspark and gained firsthand knowledge of its activities. Taguspark, located in Oeiras near Lisbon, is the largest science and technology park in Portugal. Spanning 150 hectares, it hosts a wide array of national and international companies, research centers, and universities.
