Rector of Kutaisi International University Alexandre Tevzadze Awards the Teams That Made It to the Final of the Millennium Innovation Competition

The awards ceremony for the winners of the Millennium Innovation Competition was held on 29 November. The Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Mikheil Chkhenkeli together with the US Ambassador Kelly Degnan awarded the winning team of the Millennium Innovation Competition 2022. The Minister addressed the audience and congratulated the winners of the competition. Rector of the Kutaisi International University Alexandre  Tevzadze attended the event. The rector awarded special prizes and tablets to the members of the final stage teams – “Nos Vincere” and “GrassTech”. KIU has been supporting the competition  for the third year. It should be noted that the finalists of the competition will receive full tuition and living expenses on campus if they are accepted to Kutaisi International University.

The winner of the 2022 Millennium Innovation Competition was the LIGGA team. They won the grand prize - the opportunity to go to a NASA summer camp in the USA.

In second place was the team “Firelink”, which will participate in the iD Tech camp at Stanford University in the USA and will be funded by the Georgian Innovation and Technology Agency (GITA).

Members of the third-place team “Mad Scientist” will be sent by Liberty Bank on a study tour to the European Center for Nuclear Research, Switzerland.

The team “Atemporal” was selected by EPAM and its members will participate in the EPAM Garage Technology Camp in Poland.

Minister of Education and Science Mikheil Chkhenkeli, the US  Ambassador to Georgia Kelly Degnan and representatives of partner organizations attended the award ceremony for the Millennium Innovation Competition.

The Millennium Innovation Competition has been held since 2014 with the financial support of the US Embassy. Its aim is to encourage innovation and the creation of new technologies among high school students and to increase interest in the science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM fields).
