Kutaisi International University hosted the final event of the Summer School of Innovation and the awarding ceremony for the winning project/team. The summer school was implemented in cooperation with Kutaisi International University (KIU) and the Georgian Innovation and Technology Agency (GITA).

Fifty students of KIU participated in the summer school. More than 10 projects were presented at the final stage and the jury selected the winning team and the author of the project. The best student startup project was  named “Frogo”. Kutaisi International University gave GEL 5,000 to the winning team members, Davit Petriashvili and Giorgi Tsintsadze, to implement the project.

The Summer School for Innovation and Startup Acceleration has been held at KIU for the second year running, and a total of around 150 young people have taken part in it in two years. This year, from July to September, KIU students had the opportunity to take a course on startup creation, authored by entrepreneur Nikoloz Gogochuri. The aim of the course was to stimulate and develop students’ basic skills of innovative thinking, “ideation” and startup creation, to give young people practical experience in managing the initial stage of a startup by developing their own ideas, and to involve KIU in the innovation and start-up ecosystem of Georgia.

In 2021, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between Kutaisi International University (KIU) and the Georgia Innovation and Technology Agency (GITA), under which GITA cooperates with the University to develop the innovative ecosystem and works on various innovation projects. Within the framework of the partnership, dozens of student-initiated startup ideas have been implemented over two years.
